Scholarship Information

The Los Angeles Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (LA NAHN) promotes the professional advancement of its members as leaders, educators, and practitioners. The LA NAHN Scholarship recognizes a select group of Hispanic/Latino students who demonstrate promise of future professional contributions to the nursing profession and who have the potential to act as role models for other aspiring nursing students. $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to outstanding students pursuing a degree in the following categories:

  • LVN License

  • Associate of Arts in Nursing

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing

  • Master of Science in Nursing

  • PhD in Nursing or DNP

The application period will be open from September 1, 2016 thru October 31, 2016.


To qualify for the scholarship award, the applicant must:

  • Be a current LANAHN member

  • Be of Hispanic descent

  • Be currently enrolled in a school of nursing and in good standing

  • Be a United States citizen or legal resident

  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of ≥2.5

  • Fulfill a minimum of 15 hours volunteer service to LA NAHN

All scholarship application packets MUST be postmarked by October 31, 2016. No exceptions will be made to this deadline.

Scholarships will be presented at the 2016 LANAHN Gala on December 9, 2016, at the Westin in Pasadena, CA. Scholarship recipients must be present. The number of scholarships offered each year is dependent upon the amount in the scholarship fund. Scholarship funding will be disbursed in two installments: $500 in December 2016, and $500 upon completion of 15 volunteer hours to LA NAHN.
